👋 About us

We are the Mastercut Project!

An independent producer, song writer and dance-act duo from the rural middle of germany (Vogelsberg, Hessisch Detroit). We're making electronic music, no matter which sub-genre, since the early 90s and this musical era has influenced every piece of our productions so far. We do what we enjoy and don't take ourselves too seriously...  And hell yeah - we're still stuck in the 90s!

TL;DR
Hey, if you're bored, got too much time or even really interested in learning more about us, you've come to the right place. Otherwise the infos on top should be enough to sleep well tonight. Long story short: Born in 80s, music since 90s and never arrived in Year2K

Mastercut Project - Live act 1996
Liveact as "2-Colours"' with Amiga Protracker' (Bayern, 1996)

We started making music in the early 90s (Amiga Mod Scene) and released our first tracks and album in 1995 on LittleDiscRecords. The second album, also full of mono sounding Amiga tracks, followed a year later. After all copies were sold, we also made some liveacts all over germany. At that time still under the pseudonym "2-Colours & Radical Wax". (not to be confused with 2-Colors ^^)

Later, after we finally switched over to PC Hardware and Windows we've changed our name to "Mastercut Project". Some of our tracks charted on the radiostation "DasDing" as a Top10 track in the newcomer section. Also another track, which primary was released as background music on a german computer magazin DVD (Gamestar) , landed with great success on the net.

In the late 2010s the gaming and machinima scene had our attention. (we were always addicted to games like Quake or Battlefield) With the "Useless Productions" francise (later on as "7XDE"), we've done a lot of machinima and gaming soundtracks. After the release of "Everyday I'm Javelin", as part of an event for the game Battlefield 3 by ElectronicArts (EA) & DICE, we charted as top picks and the machinima movie including soundtrack went viral on the gaming scene. Last but not least, a german tv station (ARD) heard about it and called us for a documentary about machinima and videos games. Crazy times... Furthermore we decided to say good bye to our loved Tracker / DAW Combo "Jeskola Buzz" and switched over to Ableton Live. (best choice ever!)

Our vocalist "Aurora" joined us in 2011 - you can hear her voice in productions like "Tears are falling, Never be alone or So Strung out". Well, well .. here we are now. After moving and overhauling the studio several times, everythings ready now. In 2025 we will start our own record label including vinyl pressing. A mastering service is also planned but without a time frame yet. Also, we're open for remixes now, just get in touch with us.
